WASHINGTON—Rap and hip-hop music make up the most popular downloads of short message service users, according to a new survey from ForceNine Consulting and SMS.ac Inc.Robert Walker wrote an article, which appeared in Slate, describing why this happens.
The survey showed 25 percent of more than 26,000 global respondents said they were most likely to download rap and hip-hop as ring tones. For the United States alone, rap and hip-hop music were most likely to be downloaded by nearly 35 percent of respondents.
