If it is true that the Bush and Blair administrations lied about the threat of WMDs, I will be dissapointed. The main premise upon which the war against Iraq was promoted to the American people and the world was Weapons of Mass Destruction. If the amounts of WMDs is not as large as predicted, France may have been right in calling Iraq not that big a threat. On the other hand, the Ba'ath Party regime was awful and I am glad to see it go and there have been some ties betwee Al-Qaeda and Iraq so overall I think even without WMD the war is beneficial to the world.

HipHop Is Growing Up
AllHipHop.com has an interview with KRS-ONE. Chris Parker always has something interesting to say whether or not one agrees with him. I found his statement that in eight years or so the U.S. will have a President who may have grown up listening to HipHop. But to me this is the best part:
But our children don’t need to hear certain thoughts at 9am in the morning while they are trying to get ready to go to school, or at 9 at night when you’re trying to wash them up to go bed. Hip-Hop should be more family-orientated being that most Hip-Hoppas are family people. The nonsense you see on television is a joke of course. The majority of people who say “yo! I grew up in Hip-Hop, that’s my culture, that’s what I grew up in.” We have children now, we’re married now, we have mortgages, car payments, cell bills. We got things to do. We’re not standing on the corner like the video depicts. So I say more of us have to speak up.
Bling Bling And The Dictionary
AllHipHop.com reports that the phrase "bling-bling" has been added to the Oxford English Dictionary. It is a sad thing if hip-hop has nothing more to add to the world than the excess materialism captured in the phrase "bling-bling." I have no problem with materialism. I like a lot of my material possesions. However, I think the excess of worship of jewelery and cars by rappers is idiotic. I don't care if you have $50,000 hanging around your neck tell me what you think about the world. Some people just need to grow up.

Is Your Tomb Next?
88hiphop.com has an article about how the negativiaty and wankstas, to coin a phrase, are literally killing people in hip-hop. Not only are people directly connected to drugs and violence like Tupac or Notorious B.I.G. dying but innocent people like Jam Master Jay are being killed over stupidity interest. It is about time people grow up, if they want to be treated seriously in this world.

Is there a chance of a new A Tribe Called Quest album?
In a recent interview Phife says that A Tribe Called Quest still owes Jive Records one more album. Another A Tribe Called Quest album would be a great addition to the hip-hop genre, even if it was as weak as The Love Movement.

Some Thoughts On Eminem
Eminem is a talented rapper. Eminem's talent lies in his ability to use a rhyme structure that has some relation to the beats. Other rappers have a set rhythm and unfortunately do not adjust very well to the various beats being used, but Eminem is able to escape this. Additionally, Eminem has a talented vocabulary and is thus able to express himself lyrically. He has an amazing free-styling ability, as shown in 8 mile, allowing him to paint pictures with his words. Certainly his production skills are sharp.
From my description so far it sounds like Eminem is the perfect rapper; I think not. Eminem has hit songs dissing pop stars. It does not really take that much talent to go after pop stars. Eminem is not going to earn any credibility within the hip-hop community by dissing N'SYNC or Britney Spears, but Eminem may succeed in having his videos played on MTV. Eminem's lyrics are also filled with violent images of what he plans to do to himself and others which I find completely unnecessary. Eminem must have something positive to say about the world; I mean he is a millionaire now.

Congress is profiteering on the war
by funding special interests, Libertarians say
WASHINGTON, DC -- The bill funding the war in Iraq has become jam-
packed with so many special-interest favors -- such as a $250 million
grant for Southern catfish farmers -- that Congress should be ashamed
to vote for it, the Libertarian Party says.
"Unfortunately, wartime looting isn't confined to Iraq," said Geoffrey
Neale, the party's national chairman. "Politicians in Washington, DC,
are using the fog of late-night legislating to cover their tracks as
they funnel money to their political supporters."
As a House-Senate conference committee negotiates the final details of
legislation funding the Iraq war, Democrats and Republicans are
scrambling to insert dozens of special-interest riders. Though the $80
billion package was stalled by disagreements on Wednesday, it is
expected to be completed within days and presented to President Bush.
According to an estimate by Rep. Ron Paul, R-TX, the bill contains $20
billion in "wartime pork," or spending that has no connection with the
war in Iraq or the battle against terrorism.
"By turning the bill into a spigot for special interests, Congress is
profiteering on the war -- and that should anger every American,"
Neale said.
One especially egregious example: Republican Sen. Thad Cochran inserted
language that would funnel $250 million to Southern catfish farmers,
many of them in his home state of Mississippi, under the guise of
providing drought relief for livestock producers.
Other "war-time pork" includes:
* $69 million to fund a "Bill Emerson Humanitarian Trust," named after
the former Missouri Congressman.
* A measure intended to prevent a German company, DHL Worldwide
Express, from competing with Federal Express and United Parcel Service
in the delivery of military cargo. During the 2002 election cycle, UPS
gave $1.5 million to Democratic and Republican candidates and $300,000
to the Republican National Committee, Neale noted.
* $98 million for an agricultural research lab in Iowa, and $250
million in other Agriculture Department grants.
* $3.2 billion to extend unemployment benefits for airline employees.
* $11 million for Congressional salaries and expenses.
* A total of $12.4 million for the Library of Congress, the
Congressional Research Service, the General Accounting Office and the
U.S. Court of International Trade.
* $8 billion in foreign aid for nations that are supposedly helping the
fight against terrorism, including Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia
and Djibouti.
"It's disgraceful that politicians who publicly brag about supporting
our troops are privately using this war as a device to enrich special
interests and benefit their own re-election campaigns," Neale said.
"The Libertarian Party is challenging Mr. Bush to veto this bill.
Maybe that will send a message to the politicians who insist on
conducting business as usual in Washington, DC -- while their fellow
Americans are dying in Iraq."

Hijacking The War On Terror
Deroy Murdock has an article in today's National Review Online about the American troops taking control of Salman Pak in Iraq. For those not aware Salman Pak was a terrorist training camp where terrorists trained on a downed 747 for hijackings. Terrorists don't have much of a chance of a hijacking a plane after September 11th. Although any terrorist camp is worth destroying.

Did We Have To Invade?
Did we need to invade Iraq? Not if our intent was to go after terrorists. For now let's ignore the CIA's proclamation that there are no terrorists in Afghanistan. If Saddam had the choice between letting us come in and kill some terrorists or having his whole country destroyed. Saddam probably would be more than willing to have a few terrorists killed if it would say his military, after all he did surrender in 1991. The administration even says that Iran is a bigger state sponsor of terrorism than Iraq, but as of yet we are not attacking Iran.
As of now, the US forces have found no weapons of mass destruction. If we find no weapons of mass destruction, will the war have been worth it? Only in ridding the world of one dictator, but there may be many more dictators to rid the world from.
